Learning Objectives
Students will delvelop skills for a critical analysis of the data, essential to support their experimental work and to complete the final thesis.
Students will be able to recognize the distribution of experimental data, identify the most suitable methods of analysis using appropriate software, to graphically represent and to interpret the results obtained.
Prerequisites
nothing
Teaching Methods
Frontal lesson and exercise
Type of Assessment
Written test with open questions and problem solving. Time available 45 min.
The test is carried out in person in the computer rooms
The exam is passed with a score of 18/30 or higher.
Course program
Characteristics of the experimental variables (data distribution).
Main methods of analysis and their applicability (descriptive and inferential statistics).
Data collection and their analysis in the biomedical field: from the design of the experiments to the estimation of the sample size.
Correct representation and interpretation of experimental data, error analysis.
Use of common analysis software (Excel) with practical examples and exercises.
The course will be characterized by a problem-solving approach, introducing statistics concepts and theory on a need to know basis, according to the required analysis of the experimental data.
