Course Content
Course includes basic elements to acquire knowledges and competences on multidimensional approach to older subjects in rehabilitation, with a specific focus on frail elderly patients. Prescription of physical exercise for older subjects, falls prevention interventions, and rehabilitation strategies for older subjects with cerebrovascular disease, Parkinson’s disease, hypokinetic syndrome, dementia, delirium, hip fracture, urinary incontinence are specific objectives of the course.

Learning Objectives
To acquire knowledges and competences pertaining to peculiarities of rehabilitation of older subjects, with a specific focus on older subjects with frailty, motor impairment and cognitive decline.
Prerequisites
Preparatory courses indicated by the School of Physiotherapy Board.

Course program
Functional approach to aging: disability and frailty. Rehabilitation and prescription of physical exercise for older subjects with frailty and sarcopenia. Comprehensive geriatric assessment in rehabilitation. Rehabilitation of older subjects in acute care hospital. Hypokinetic syndrome: complications, prevention and treatment. Post-acute rehabilitation pathways. Falls and fragility fracture in old age: risk assessment, prevention strategies. Rehabilitation of older subjects with cerebrovascular disease. Rehabilitation of older subjects with Parkinson’s disease. Rehabilitation of older subjects with hip fracture. Rehabilitation of older subjects with urinary incontinence. Motor rehabilitation of older subjects with cognitive impairment. Psychosocial interventions for older subjects with dementia and delirium
