Learning Objectives
The course provides a istitutional knowledge on media languages and it offers tools for analysis of movies andt TV series, comics, etc., and for the understanding of audiovisual language and the cultural study of the relationship between media, and in particular between television and film.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of cinema and television history and of the relation with the surrounding national and international media culture.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Acquiring the basic skills of analyzing audiovisula language, its intermedial implications, and the basic production strategies associated with it.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS:
Know how to analyze and evaluate research practices and basic analysis models on movies and television texts.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Knowledge and use of the specific and appropriate terminology
LEARNING SKILLS:
Ability to build autonomous insights into specific themes addressed during the lessons

Prerequisites
The course requires registration to the Moodle e-learning Platform (http://e-l.unifi.it/) at free access at the beginning of the lessons; afterwards, students will have to contact the professor for the individual registration. The study materials published therein, and in particular the links to movies, are an integral part of the study program.
Teaching Methods
Lectures, screenings and listening to audio and video documents, depth study materials on Moodle e-learning Platform.
In the case of distance learning, the lessons will be available according to the rules established by the University of Florence.

Type of Assessment
The final exam consists of a written test, in presence or a remote exam following University of Florence prescriptions. More info on Moodle platform. The exam presents a quiz and one open question in which the student has to analyze a movie among those in the filmography. Students will have 40 minutes to complete the test. For sufficiency it is compulsory to answer all questions. Anyone wishing to take the exam in oral form (in presence or remote mode) should agree a written report with the teacher.
"Appelli straordinari" are reserved to specific kind of student designated by Scuola and they could be held in oral form (in presence or remote mode)
Students not registrated on e-learning Moodle platform will not be admitted to the final exam.
Non-attending students will not be admitted to the final exam if they didn't agree a special program with the teacher during front desk hours.
